Welcome to The Shack
7:30 - late
The Shack is one of Sydney's live music venue gems. It recently celebrated 50 years since its inception. The Shack provides an entertaining and diverse range of both modern day and traditional quality acoustic music in a comfortable candle-lit atmosphere on the first Saturday of each month.
Technology is redefining the music experience but nothing can replace a live performance from dedicated artists. Each month audiences can be delighted by the variety of acoustic acts it presents. Musicians love to play at The Shack and it is difficult to accommodate the number of those who want to play.
The Shack is at The Music Lounge.

Presenting our guests for December
The Love Machine is The Shack's own sound man extraordinaire and his capable accomplice. They grew out of the 60's & 70's music explosion of love and peace, when we realised we needed to "get together and love one another right now" and "love is all you need". It was a simpler time when it was the most natural thing to drop into any open house party on the Northern Beaches and jam along to the current tunes which everyone knew. Long before everything became digital. They can get political when necessary, but don't worry it's always with an inclusive, positive message. Think Joni, Marvin and CSNY, add a dash of jazz, blues and soul and you're in the right zone for a date with The Love Machine.
Shawn Lidster released his latest album "Devil & The Angel" in September this year. He is now on tour in Australia from his Newfoundland homeland. He describes that following his heart, and allowing the time has let the dreams, spirits and ghosts of the Songlines lead him on his journey to Devil & the Angel. Shawn's music is a mix of folk based roots music blended with his Newfoundland heritage with Australian charm to create a mixed bag of Celtic/Alt Country/Blues captivating his audiences.
The New York Public Library John Flannigan (“Flano”), Warren Boyd and Isabelle Fogarty are the New York Public Library, a lively, popular, and thoroughly entertaining trio who have been an icon of the Sydney folk scene for years, having begun their career at the original Shack. They play a variety of music including originals, folk, comedic and something they call “adapted bluegrass”.
